Hello Fellow Lions!
I hope you had a fantastic summer full of fun and relaxing times. I am excited to say that I have been the principal at LCHS for one year now and I am looking forward to another great year. We have made great strides over the past year and I am proud of our staff, our parents, our community and, most importantly, our students for framing a mind set and working hard to move our school from "Good" to "Great."
Our student achievement increased across the board in all areas this past school year. Our preliminary SOL results look very good. We had an increase in the number of students passing state examinations in nursing, cosmetology, auto mechanics, computer information services, and firefighting. We had five out of five students participating in the National French Contest score in the top 10 in Virginia, we won a state championship in indoor track, we decreased our number of F's in all content areas, we had over 1,100 students that did not receive a discipline referral during the 2008-2009 school year, and we added a block of time during the school day for all students to have an opportunity to receive remediation and extra help. WE are accomplishing great things! To each of you, I offer congratulations and thank you for your support, your belief, and your commitment.
For the 2009-2010 school year, high expectations remain a top focus for all of us at LCHS. As we continue to "Roar Toward Greatness," we must continue to set the bar high for one another and strive hard to meet those expectations; settling for nothing less than the BEST in OUR school.
Now that the foundation is set, we must continue building on our strengths. As we prepare for the great year ahead, please remember that if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call on me. I am here to serve you and help ensure that your child receives the best education there is to offer.
GO LIONS!
