Hobbies? Unusual interests? What are they?: I'm pretty normal... I like to read, cook, watch movies, sail and snowboard.
What sports do you enjoy? Spectator or player?: I enjoy watching college football, professional baseball, the Olympics, and European football. I'm a terrible athlete; I can't even get around my classroom without tripping.

8. Where did you grow up? Where have you lived? Grew up in New Orleans. Have lived in Houston, Washington, and Louisa.
9. Where did you go to school? B.S. in Physics from University of Notre Dame; Ph.D. in Space Physics & Astronomy from Rice University. Also lots of Education courses from UVA, and several Technology courses from JMU.
10. Any hobbies or unusual interests? Juggling, Doing cryptic crossword puzzles, Gardening, Reading good mysteries & science fiction
11. What sports do you like? Spectator or player? Enjoy swimming. Dabble at tennis and golf. Occasional hikes in the mountains.
12. Family? Wife Judy (who retired last year as a teacher at Thomas Jefferson Elementary). Six children Larry, Moira, Brigit, Damian, Miriam, Paul. They're all great. Plus seven (gulp!) grandchildren, who are also great!

14. Anything else? Built the golf course at Louisa Country Club (now Tanyard). Developer of Tanyard Subdivision. Ran a cattle farm in Louisa for 15 years. Worked for NASA Headquarters during the time that we landed on the moon. Taught astronomy at U.VA.
